Cutting Rule
Flat Bed and Rotary Rules – both essential components in die cutting, each tailored to suit different production methods
Flat Bed Rule
Flat bed rule is used in flatbed die cutting systems. The rule itself is typically a straight, high-carbon steel blade mounted into a flat wooden die board. This setup allows the material to be cut vertically, making it suitable for precise and detailed work. Flat bed rules are ideal for shorter production runs or when working with thicker or more varied materials, such as folding cartons, foam, and gaskets.
Rotary Rules
Designed for use in rotary die cutting machines. Unlike the flat version, the rotary rule is curved to match the cylindrical shape of a rotary die board. This type of rule enables continuous, high-speed cutting, making it highly efficient for long production runs. Rotary rules are most commonly used in the manufacture of corrugated packaging, such as cardboard boxes and display units, where speed and volume are critical.
